- Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) is an instant payment inter-bank electronic funds transfer system in India. IMPS offers an inter-bank electronic fund transfer service through mobile phones. Unlike NEFT and RTGS, the service is available 24/7 throughout the year including bank holidays.
- It is managed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and is built upon the existing National Financial Switch network. In 2010, the NPCI initially carried out a pilot for the mobile payment system with 4 member banks (State Bank of India, Bank of India, Union Bank of India and ICICI Bank), and expanded it to include Yes Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank later that year. IMPS was publicly launched on November 22, 2010. Currently, there are 53 commercial banks, 101 Rural/District/Urban and cooperative banks, and 24PPIi signed up for the IMPS service.

The beneficiary account is credited immediately when a Fund Transfer request is made through your Mobile phone . This service is available 24×7, throughout the year including Sundays and any bank holiday. Below is the list of participating banks.
- IMPS Funds Transfer facility is available through Mobile Banking. You will need a 7 digit MMID* (Mobile Money Identifier) number to transfer funds via IMPS.
Generate MMID :
- Go to iMobile on your mobile phone >> Select Bank Account >> Select Desired Account >> Select Insta FT(IMPS) >> Select Generate MMID >> Your 7-digit MMID will be displayed. Once your details are authenticated, the money is transferred instantly from your account. You will also receive an SMS informing you about the relevant status.
Receive Money :
- To receive money to your account via instant money transfer you will need to share your mobile number and MMID with the payer.
- For First time Fund transfer to anyone add beneficiary, It will activate after 24 Hours.And this is one time process for one beneficiary
